Christmas Open House Tour 2011

Welcome to the Roop House 2011 Christmas Tour
On December 3rd, the historic Roop House once again opened it's doors to the public for their 3rd Annual Open House all decked out in Holiday style.
If you followed my little ole blog last year, you know my first visit was for the Historical Society's 2nd Annual Open House Tour.  You can read and see photos from last year HERE and HERE.
I didn't take as many photos this year, but be prepared, this is still photo overload!
So I won't say much, just pour yourself a mug of hot apple cider and enjoy.
Get ready because this is MUCH more exciting than what little bit of decorating I've done this year. ;-)
They always have a Santa and Mrs. Claus available for photos.
Of course, Booger Bear talked to Santa.  In fact, he told him about our 'elf on the shelf'.
Cute huh?
He will smile big for photos!
The kitchen. Grab yourself a cookie!
Check out the ceiling! Love.
The Magnolia leaves are from a tree on the grounds.
My favorite room in the house is this sun porch sitting room.
The Dining room.
The long back porch.
The tree on the back porch showcased local photos framed behind twig frames.
I should really think about these for my country theme tree for next year.
Maybe all barn photos.  Whatcha think?
There are several fireplaces in the Roop House; this one is in what I call the office.
Let's go upstairs.
Love this shot at the top of the stairs.
Top floor landing, another tiny tree.
This upstairs bedroom is used by brides, when weddings are held at the Roop House.
Full length mirror, lace valances ...all girly.  Check out the gorgeous floor!
The attendants have plenty of social space in the adjacent upstairs room.
Since the tour last year, the Roop House has expanded the area behind the house.
This year they had a craft for kids to add to this amazing live tree.
Dipping pine cones in peanut butter then rolling them in birdseed for ornaments.
The birds sure will be happy!
I hope you have enjoyed a look inside this historic local home in a sleepy little southern town.
I'm not using an old saying about a sleepy town either.  This was around 7pm on a Saturday night.
The open house tour was the happening spot.
I love the stillness of it.  Like stepping back in time.
With the house all dressed up for the holidays, it was an event I didn't want to miss!
