Goodwill Hunting

Yes, I look for the good in others usually finding it. But that isn't what this post is about. I know a few of my thrifty blogging friends are waiting to hear about my self proclaimed 'huge' Goodwill score!

Before I get to that I have to show you a beautiful white platter my mom gave me on Friday. She obtained it FREE and passed it on to me!
I also have to tell you about the little jar sitting on my table behind the platter. Ignore the ugly wallpaper chair rail, I hope that will be soon replaced with beaded board. I found that adorable jar at Ross for 99 cents! My ONLY purchase Saturday, but it was too cute and too good of a price to leave in the store! I just added some more of my Dollar Tree fake moss to it and dropped in a speckled egg. It is now 'home' with the large one on the top of my frig.

So for Diane's 2nd Time around Tuesday and for Tam's 3 or more Tuesday I am sharing what I found at the Goodwill on Sunday. Be sure to check out both blogs for other wonderful finds and items shared. Now, I have read where other ladies have found some very unique interesting and wonderful finds at their Goodwill Stores for steals of a deal prices. Our local one is a bit on the high side, especially for a small town.

It was busy in the store on Sunday after lunch. I headed to the back because I've been looking for a certain set of something for weeks now. I couldn't believe my eyes! There set a beautiful set of ..... well what I'd been looking for!

I snatched them up and made a b-line (what is a b-line really? heard that expression all my life) to get a shopping cart. Almost knocking over a few customers on the route with excitement.

I tucked them safely in the cart and toured the store a little slower the second time around. Yes, I did find two other small items that I am giving a face lift and will share very soon. Maybe the end of the week on one of them. For now .... the big reveal of my 'new to me' white dishes!

Do you hear angels singing? I think I did!

A 4 place set of Nikko Ironstone White Satin dinnerware. 4 dinner plates, 4 bread/butter plates and 4 soup/cereal bowls. I looked them up after arriving home safely, which was a tremendous accomplishment of itself. I was dialing family, friends and even a few people I didn't know bubbling over about my score! I then had to fix me a large glass of iced sweet tea when I looked here and found out what they are actually worth. I purchased all of the above, which is listed online for around $130 on SALE for ....

can you stand it? SIT DOWN! Ok, sitting? The bank breaking amount of $6.96 !!!

But WAIT that's not ALL that came with these lovely dishes! The set also had taped up with it ... 4 smaller bowls ~ Not exactly the same design, but close. They are from Johnson Bros. Cute, added bonus. The is their square cereal bowl design in Regency White.

4 of these little babies online cost around $4.50 each.

So let's just say I scored about $150 worth of WHITE dinnerware for less than 7 bucks!

Do you even remember that white platter my mom gave me way back up there at the top of the post? It almost matches the Nikko dinnerware perfectly! Oh and mom's response to my dish excitement was "Well hunny, you don't have to tell everyone where you got them." I think the cat is pretty much outta the bag mom.
Now that I have beautiful NEW dishes to grace my little kitchen pub table... Who is coming to dinner????

  6. Ohhhh! My!!! What a score! And the great thing about white dishes is they don't have to match! I love them! The funny thing is that out here in Blogland, a GW score is better than a fabulous expensive purchase...at least to me!! Congrats!...hugs...Debbie

  32. I can certainly understand why you're so excited. I would be too. I love when something just comes together like that! Just think of all the fun you're going to have with these dishes....they say you have to adjust the cost of something by how many times you will be actually using it. I think you just got all those lovely white dishes for free!
