Nester is having a finale and I barely made it! For the past several weeks she has had a series going on her blog, The Nesting Place for 10 minute room makeovers. If you have 10 minutes and want a room you will love, then you need to hop over to her blog (click the pretty below) and check out what the ladies are sharing!
For several weeks on my own, I have been re-doing, moving things around, adding 'junk' treasure finds, clearance deals to my home. Simply I am trying to get all of the rooms in my house de-cluttered, comfy and cozy with a little bit of SHINE.
I have wanted to tackle the top of the Entertainment Center for weeks! So here is my before photo. Family photos with no 'place' in my house ended up here. I wanted a more 'formal' look. So I cleaned off ALL the photos and dusted ....yes, dusted the top. Tonight, like just a bit ago. I am surprised I am not in a sneezing fit! Yes, it was VERY dusty up there.
I had already 'shopped the house' and knew I only had a few items. So I stopped by Hobby Lobby on the way home from work today. SCORE! They have marked their home stuff down to 80% OFF! So here are the results of my cleaning, shopping stop and makeover:
How did I do? Did I learn some Nester knowledge? Well, I found 3 candle stands at Hobby Lobby today between $2-$3 each, plus the finial for $3. So for about $10 and in 10 minutes..Results! How awesome! The clock, books, candles, ball thingies and old picture were on hand items. I am NOT keeping that picture. It was 'free' ...yes free, from the junk store about a month ago. I plan to have a watercolor of a local round barn, matted in that frame. I just keep forgetting to put it in the car and dash it over to Hobby Lobby.I even replaced the battery in the clock! It hadn't kept time in months. Kept forgetting that too. What is it about being over 40? I developed CRS ... can't remember stuff!
Before I forget (Ha!). I want to also share again, the top of my frig. Remember a little over a week ago I cleaned it off and placed my 'new' flea market find on top with a couple of other items. You can view that old post here. With this past weekends trip to Atlanta, I also stopped in HomeGoods. We have a TJMaxx which I love! But I'd missed out on the nice glass jars by waiting too long. Found one at HomeGoods. $7.99 for a LARGE glass jar. Placed it on the top of the frig, filled with TJMaxx eggs and some Dollar Tree moss. Along with that are my other Dollar Tree purchases; a cute white vase and fake flowers. Now I am ready for spring!
One last tiny detail for the living room was adding two throw pillows to the sofa. They are the same color as my sheer that drapes over and above my window. Of course, they were clearance finds! Kohl's for around $5 each. Thanks to Nester for the 'push' in the 10 minute right direction! Now I think it's time to relax and ENJOY! Try it. 10 minutes, give or take a few, to a new look you will love and within a tiny budget!
That jar was soooo cheap! I've seen 'em and liked 'em but there were starting at $29.99 for the small sizes. I need a Home Goods store!
ReplyDeleteWow I really like how it turned out. Those are some great deals...hobby lobby is where I got my entry table lamp btw. Glad you stopped by.
ReplyDelete...guess I need a quick trip to Home Goods!!! looks great!

Everything looks great! I love the top of the fridge... what a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors.I like how the candlesticks give it some height.
ReplyDeleteReally looks good! Perhaps I should do my fridge next...I'm pretty sure there's a couple of inches of dust up there.
ReplyDeleteWow, so pretty above your fridge! Your other display really made a big difference too!

Everything looks so nice! Love what you did on the top of your fridge!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, I love your flea market and Dollar Tree finds! Those are 2 of my favorite destinations! (Is that sad?)
ReplyDeleteGreat job on both!! Great finds.......on the cheap!! Isn't it much easier when you take something apart in 10 intervals? It's not such a big ordeal!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Sherri!
Awesome scores and loved the way you put it all together!
ReplyDelete(I'm never, ever showing you the top of my fridge, lol)

Hi Sherri
ReplyDeleteGreat makeovers. I smiled when I saw what you did to the top of your entertainment center. I just did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I had pics on it too and nothing else looked right or would fit. I found a solution and love my look too. Yours looks very good and much more pleasing right?
The top of your fridge looks lovely too. Nice to see the pretty teapot there. Thats another area thats hard to "decor up" isn't it. You've done a good job.
Thank you for sharing.
it must be the spring is coming instinct in us.

Excellent work! love that you replaced your battery. Sometimes, it is the little things, right???
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Sherri! I noticed how you had fewer things (photos) on the entertainment center than you ended up with -- but the photos looked cluttered and your other items look terrific! It's all about the different heights, and the placement!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous -- I'm so ready to start decorating for Spring but it's frosty here and I've still never quite adjusted to feeling Spring-y when there's snow on the ground...
Your changes look great! The top of the entertainment center was a big change. And it looks like I need to stop by Hobby Lobby. I do wish we had HomeGoods here, but we don't!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
Two thumbs up!! I really really like it. I grabbed some inspiration to do the top of my fridge. Thanks Sherri!
ReplyDeletelooks more put together and now I'm gonna go find all of my eggs too!
