Inspire me Pink!

Welcome to my first Pink Saturday post! I am thrilled to join Beverly over at How Sweet The Sound and the long list of ladies that share a little PINK inspiration.

Let me first say I had planned to pre-schedule my post last night. After work I came in and decided to do a bit of organization in my tiny laundry room. I had clothes on washing, while cleaning out the shelves. When the washer began pumping out the water...water began rolling down the wall! The drain apparently is clogged. I jumped off the step stool and turned off the machine but there was a huge puddle of water to clean up. So yes, real life happens and I am up sipping coffee this morning, typing up my post.

A few years ago I attended an event for Scrapbookers in a town just outside of Birmingham. The entire theme of the weekend was PINK ! Not only were there classes on making scrapbook items but the speakers were inspiring. Women sharing about their lives in such a way to remind us how we are all connected. My getting back into blogging has also reminded me of this. Women sharing their lives, their dreams, their talents, their inspiration with all of us. Reaching out to other women and touching our lives. I would like to thank EACH of you for sharing that passion and reminding us with your shared creativity that we each have the power to inspire someone every day. Even though we may not realize it. Your words do reach out and touch others.

I have read blogs on trials in our lives, on triumphs in our lives, on the daily challenges that face us. I read the ones where people are sharing their creative talents with us; inspiring us to find a simple junk store item and turn someone else's trash into a treasure for our homes. Blogging truly is a community come together by the dynamics of the Internet. Like the old quilting circles where women sat around pushing thread through fabric weaving together not only something beautiful and warm for their families but sharing their stories, enriching the lives of those in the circle.

So today not only do I share a beautiful color with you! I celebrate each of YOU!!! That take the time in your busy daily lives to post a blog. To share your stories, your talents, your ups and downs, your courage, the love for your families, your strength and yes, your weakness also. For every word is a work of {heart}. Your words INSPIRE me.

One last pink photo. Last weekend my daughter and I attended a baby shower of one of her friends. She is expecting a little girl and this was the centerpiece made by one of the hostesses. Another work of love and shared creativity!

It's a Small World After all....

Sing along with me ladies! That is one of my favorite little attractions at Walt Disney. It brings back memories from my first visit there as a child. I've only been twice. Once as a kid and once to take my children years ago.

Well that little song has a new spin on it tonight. I have been rolling around this blog land. Unlike rolling around in the hay. Hay! That is a totally different story ALL together! This blog is 'G' rated. *giggles* In my rolling, I've met many wonderful creative inspiring women. Then yesterday, I recognized a local spot in a photo on a new blogging friends spot. I shot off an email. A lot less dangerous than shooting off a rifle. But us women round these parts know how to do that too!

Tonight I met a fellow blogger, a newly transplanted gal right here in my very own small part of the world. Olive Rue ! Low and behold she is a Gawga Southern girl too! And she is married to a friend of a friend. We know people! Like in common. I even know people from her home town in North Georgia.

Not only do we know people in common, we have a lot of things in common. Like shhhhh being addicted to blogging! and thrifty finds. Antiques. Making other peoples trash into treasures. She's a real bonifide photographer. I just like taking photos. She is sweet and adorable. Real.
Instantly we've decided we would get along just fine. Just pass me a glass of sweet tea!

Fiddle De De! We both love Gone With the Wind too! Just happens to be my favorite movie of all time. I talked the poor gal's ears off. I do declare she was toting them out in her purse as she left! Have you ever tried to squeeze 39 plus a few years of living into two hours of conversation? Whew!

It was SO very nice meeting Miss Olive Rue! Rumor has it that I may just get out of working my day job on Monday and join up with a bunch of other Georgia blogging ladies for a luncheon in the big city. I am so exciting about expanding my small world into a larger beautiful bouquet of shiny inspiring Georgia blossoms!

Thanks for all the sweet comments on my post from yesterday. I can't wait to see your crafty thrifty cloche jars! Ya'll come back now ya hear? And let me know when you post photos so I can have a looksie and leave some blogging comment love too.

Sensational Junk Cloche

Well, there is a fancy word that is running rampant in the blogging decor community. Cloche.

Rumor has it you haven't 'arrived' in decor until you have one. I know because I read the rumor in a blog! ;-) Well, have one I MUST then. The search began!

I saw a limited amount of the fancy french word beauties on my excursion to Scott's Antique Market in the big city. For a pretty penny I could 'arrive' in the world of home decor. My clearance rack, junkie mind wouldn't allow for an expenditure on such grand scales to become a Decor Diva.

Yet while visiting my local high end Goodwill (so shall it be named due to the higher prices in this little HotLanta burb), I spotted this large glass jar object for $1.91. My brain began to spin with possibilities! Inspiration struck. Along with visions of splendor at finally arriving in the blog world of decor!

So what is a budding Diva to do? Head on over to Wally World and pick up an added item to make my sensational junk cloche dreams come true! Next you place the thrifty find and the Wally World purchase of a tiny votive candle holder next to each other, then make photos for all the blogging gals to see your Diva in the making qualities and cleverness.

You search your newly organized Inspiration Studio for hours trying to find the item that will pull all of this together. Where did I put that? Oh gee, what an inopportune time for my CRS (can't remember stuff) to kick in. Doesn't that glue realize what is at stake here? Arrivaldom...or something like that.

Quick stop at Hobby Lobby after work remedies the lost glue and the lost mind. For the love of cornbread my memory chips are in need of a reboot.

Add a little junk girl trash to treasure magic. Toss in a bit of fake Dollar store moss and a cute little birdie. Set it on a pretty plate and VOILA! (another fancy French word there, just in case ya'll didn't notice). This junk hunter wannabe Decor Diva presents a homemade:

~ CLOCHE ~
Now don't you go fretting about me being found out by the locals that I junk hunted my little Cloche into existence for the mere price of $3. Most of these farm boys don't speak French. They use tractors and tillers to toil the land growing their veggies. Should they question the authenticity of this cutie pie, my now earned Decor Diva qualities will kick in, hopefully before my CRS and explain that according to Merriam-Webster dictionary a Cloche is a transparent plant cover used outdoors especially for protection against cold. Of course, some may question my sanity as to why one is sitting on the little living room table with a bird under it!

I must say that I am not the only thrifty cloche Diva in blog land. I found at least two other gals that have arrived before me in the decor world. Another Sherry with her almost identical twin design of a cloche at Creations from My Heart and Blanca at For the Love of My Home & Life. I ran across another Diva a few weeks ago that used a finial and a jar, but I can not find her now.

So crafty thrifty sisters of mine, do not stress over coveting thy blog sisters cloche. RUN to your nearest thrift/junk store and let your imaginations soar. With just a tad of glue you can make shiny sensational junk glass in to a cloche!

Goodwill Hunting

Yes, I look for the good in others usually finding it. But that isn't what this post is about. I know a few of my thrifty blogging friends are waiting to hear about my self proclaimed 'huge' Goodwill score!

Before I get to that I have to show you a beautiful white platter my mom gave me on Friday. She obtained it FREE and passed it on to me!
I also have to tell you about the little jar sitting on my table behind the platter. Ignore the ugly wallpaper chair rail, I hope that will be soon replaced with beaded board. I found that adorable jar at Ross for 99 cents! My ONLY purchase Saturday, but it was too cute and too good of a price to leave in the store! I just added some more of my Dollar Tree fake moss to it and dropped in a speckled egg. It is now 'home' with the large one on the top of my frig.

So for Diane's 2nd Time around Tuesday and for Tam's 3 or more Tuesday I am sharing what I found at the Goodwill on Sunday. Be sure to check out both blogs for other wonderful finds and items shared. Now, I have read where other ladies have found some very unique interesting and wonderful finds at their Goodwill Stores for steals of a deal prices. Our local one is a bit on the high side, especially for a small town.

It was busy in the store on Sunday after lunch. I headed to the back because I've been looking for a certain set of something for weeks now. I couldn't believe my eyes! There set a beautiful set of ..... well what I'd been looking for!

I snatched them up and made a b-line (what is a b-line really? heard that expression all my life) to get a shopping cart. Almost knocking over a few customers on the route with excitement.

I tucked them safely in the cart and toured the store a little slower the second time around. Yes, I did find two other small items that I am giving a face lift and will share very soon. Maybe the end of the week on one of them. For now .... the big reveal of my 'new to me' white dishes!

Do you hear angels singing? I think I did!

A 4 place set of Nikko Ironstone White Satin dinnerware. 4 dinner plates, 4 bread/butter plates and 4 soup/cereal bowls. I looked them up after arriving home safely, which was a tremendous accomplishment of itself. I was dialing family, friends and even a few people I didn't know bubbling over about my score! I then had to fix me a large glass of iced sweet tea when I looked here and found out what they are actually worth. I purchased all of the above, which is listed online for around $130 on SALE for ....

can you stand it? SIT DOWN! Ok, sitting? The bank breaking amount of $6.96 !!!

But WAIT that's not ALL that came with these lovely dishes! The set also had taped up with it ... 4 smaller bowls ~ Not exactly the same design, but close. They are from Johnson Bros. Cute, added bonus. The is their square cereal bowl design in Regency White.

4 of these little babies online cost around $4.50 each.

So let's just say I scored about $150 worth of WHITE dinnerware for less than 7 bucks!

Do you even remember that white platter my mom gave me way back up there at the top of the post? It almost matches the Nikko dinnerware perfectly! Oh and mom's response to my dish excitement was "Well hunny, you don't have to tell everyone where you got them." I think the cat is pretty much outta the bag mom.
Now that I have beautiful NEW dishes to grace my little kitchen pub table... Who is coming to dinner????

A Blue Monday Bathroom fix up

Is it Monday already? Does it count for Sally's Blue Monday blog carnival that I am just BLUE about having to go back to work? Ha! Don't get me wrong; I am so very thankful to have a job with the state of the economy! I just didn't get the amount of 'projects' completed this weekend that I wanted to finish up. Which always seems to be the case. What is a working girl to do?

SHARE what I did do!

Thanks to Nester , I have extra inspiration to add to my home mini makeovers list! So applying some of that shared knowledge I spruced up my 'guest' bathroom today. Now mind you this is also my teenage daughter's bathroom. It's usually a mess! However, she did clean it this week.

A few weeks ago I redid my fireplace mantel. I replaced the picture I have had up there forever with a mirror from my bedroom. I love this framed sun, moon and stars but it didn't 'work' any where else in the house. I walked into the bathroom and it hit me! Hang it in there because it matches the shower curtain. So I did. Today I just rolled some towels, grabbed a clearance candle (found at the after holidays sales), tied some of my ribbon stash around them and here you have it! A BLUE bathroom makeover. For FREE!

Do you like the color blue? It is actually my favorite color! If you do, then check out all the other Blue Monday posts over at Sally's blog. Leave a few comments for the girls and make some new blogging buddies!

Tomorrow I will be sharing a very HUGE 'score' from my visit to the Goodwill today in the 2nd Time around and 3 or more blog carnivals. Yes, the same thrifty find has more than 3 items! I came home and looked up the price too. You won't believe it!

Happy Monday!

A Spring Makeover!

Sometimes it is the little things. A new blouse, a change in hair styles, moving items around in our homes to create a different little look that just makes us smile and SHINE! Notice the difference here? Today, my new SHINE is a spring blog makeover!

Much appreciation and gratitude to Jan & Tom, the husband and wife team of Rose Haven for sharing their time and talent, with a beautiful new springy blog! Every week they post a new blog makeover as a give away. I was thrilled to find out yesterday that I won blog makeover #5 ! Week 6 is up now, so head on over to their blog to enter if you would like a pretty new makeover too.

While out and about in town Saturday, my daughter and I saw this:

We slowed down and my daughter snapped the photo from the car window, all the while we are laughing about how funny we must have appeared to the 'chicken'!

Then my daughter and I headed over to a baby shower for a friend of hers. They have known each other since attending the same daycare together and throughout their school years. The shower was held at her grandmother's home which was any designers thrill! Elegant and beautiful.

They know the baby is a girl, little Miss Emma is expected to make her debut in about 20 days.

After the shower, my daughter and I stopped by Hobby Lobby to drop off an art piece that I have had for many years. A watercolor of a local round barn (and you should know by now, I LOVE old barns!) I am having it matted to place in my 'junk' store find of a beautiful old wooden frame. It won't be ready for a few weeks, but I can't wait to share it!

Hobby Lobby had their floral items on 50% off this week. So I picked up a couple of things to add a touch of spring to the house. I wanted something for my wall window in the living room. Found a vine on clearance for 59 cents! And a dogwood 'branch' for half off. So for about $2, my window now has a new spring makeover too.

What spring touches have you added to your home? Leave me a comment and I will stop by your blogs to check them out! I enjoy seeing others home decor ideas!

Quick~n~Easy Craft Project

Just a little something to share.

Take these very inexpensive wooden pieces ($1.00 at the Dollar Tree).

A little quiet time in the studio tonight.

Mix a bit of paint, scrapbook paper, ribbon, vintage lace, chipboard letters, flower, button, some sandpaper and glue.

Whip together a keepsake for a baby shower tomorrow.

The shower invitation had an enclosure card that said they are planning a surprise keepsake box for the new Mommy and to please bring a Do Not Disturb sign to include in the box. Something to remind her that she needs to take time for herself. What a neat little idea! She is having a girl, so I thought pink and green would be cute. I did take off the little white string that came with the boards and added my own pink ribbon as the 'hanger'.

My daughter and I will also be giving her something from her registry at Target. Plus I have another almost completed extra homemade item to tuck in with it. Hopefully I can snap a photo of it before the shower tomorrow and share it too!

I think I NEED one of these little jewels to hang on the outside of my studio door? What about you???
If you like Paper Crafting, then check out the ideas over at Kelli's blog! She hosts a paper craft linky each week.

10 minute makeovers

Nester is having a finale and I barely made it! For the past several weeks she has had a series going on her blog, The Nesting Place for 10 minute room makeovers. If you have 10 minutes and want a room you will love, then you need to hop over to her blog (click the pretty below) and check out what the ladies are sharing!

For several weeks on my own, I have been re-doing, moving things around, adding 'junk' treasure finds, clearance deals to my home. Simply I am trying to get all of the rooms in my house de-cluttered, comfy and cozy with a little bit of SHINE.

I have wanted to tackle the top of the Entertainment Center for weeks! So here is my before photo. Family photos with no 'place' in my house ended up here. I wanted a more 'formal' look. So I cleaned off ALL the photos and dusted ....yes, dusted the top. Tonight, like just a bit ago. I am surprised I am not in a sneezing fit! Yes, it was VERY dusty up there.

I had already 'shopped the house' and knew I only had a few items. So I stopped by Hobby Lobby on the way home from work today. SCORE! They have marked their home stuff down to 80% OFF! So here are the results of my cleaning, shopping stop and makeover:

How did I do? Did I learn some Nester knowledge? Well, I found 3 candle stands at Hobby Lobby today between $2-$3 each, plus the finial for $3. So for about $10 and in 10 minutes..Results! How awesome! The clock, books, candles, ball thingies and old picture were on hand items. I am NOT keeping that picture. It was 'free' ...yes free, from the junk store about a month ago. I plan to have a watercolor of a local round barn, matted in that frame. I just keep forgetting to put it in the car and dash it over to Hobby Lobby.

I even replaced the battery in the clock! It hadn't kept time in months. Kept forgetting that too. What is it about being over 40? I developed CRS ... can't remember stuff!

Before I forget (Ha!). I want to also share again, the top of my frig. Remember a little over a week ago I cleaned it off and placed my 'new' flea market find on top with a couple of other items. You can view that old post here. With this past weekends trip to Atlanta, I also stopped in HomeGoods. We have a TJMaxx which I love! But I'd missed out on the nice glass jars by waiting too long. Found one at HomeGoods. $7.99 for a LARGE glass jar. Placed it on the top of the frig, filled with TJMaxx eggs and some Dollar Tree moss. Along with that are my other Dollar Tree purchases; a cute white vase and fake flowers. Now I am ready for spring!

One last tiny detail for the living room was adding two throw pillows to the sofa. They are the same color as my sheer that drapes over and above my window. Of course, they were clearance finds! Kohl's for around $5 each. Thanks to Nester for the 'push' in the 10 minute right direction! Now I think it's time to relax and ENJOY! Try it. 10 minutes, give or take a few, to a new look you will love and within a tiny budget!

Tornado Warning!

As I pulled away from the U, at the end of the workday. Sirens were blaring once again. I knew we were under a tornado watch and the sound filling the air meant it had moved to a warning. My baby girl was home alone; 3 miles down the road. My phone rang, a friend of mine calling to say a funnel cloud had been spotted in a neighboring town...about 10 miles down the road, heading my way. In my car, I was one mile from home.

I pulled into the carport and my daughter was getting straw for the pup's house. I told her to leave it; we had to go to the neighbors basement now. "Oh you are just freaking out Mom, Geez!" NOW, I replied. Sometime it is just plain hard to remain calm and collected when storms do freak me out! It began to hail as we entered their basement garage.

The wind roared, the hail fell and the rain poured down. A few rattled nerves from myself and Miss Becky as she was waiting on her husband to arrive home from work; driving in the middle of the storm. Thankfully, we emerged safe to find quarter size and larger hail covering the ground, rain water running like a small creek, but no damage.

Photo from 11alive.com news, but was made locally today.

I have wonderful next door neighbors; the kind you can borrow a cup of sugar from when you run out. Or run to their basement in a storm. We've lived here for almost 14 years, their kids and mine have grown up together, played together, attended school together. Good people.

My son called after the first storm passed to tell me another was heading in our direction. As a small boy; I called him my little weatherman. He has always been fascinated with the weather, particularly storms. At 22 years old, I thought it was sweet that he called to check on me and his sister. But don't tell him I said that! Because it might mess with his 'billy bad butt' police image.

So we had a little storm 'excitement' this evening. It got me out of 'dinner duty'! All is safe and sound on the western side of Georgia. Well, mostly sound. How about going sound to sleep? Does that count?

More Scott's finds! 2nd Time Around & 3 or more Tuesday

I am joining more carnival riding fun and sharing another of my 'finds' at the Scott's Antique Market on Saturday. Lots of stuff to LOVE there and here; at least I do! Hope you will enjoy it too.

Joining up with Diane from A Picture is worth a 1,000 Words for her 2nd Time Around Tuesday carnival ride and getting in three items of mine for Tam from Gypsy's Corner to include my Dad's old bottle collection and three items together in this photo which are all 2nd time 'arounds'.
Be sure to check out both of these ladies blogs for more Tuesday carnival fun!

Let the sharing begin!
I spotted this cute table in a booth Saturday. The lady of the booth was just delightful! I wrote down the information, how much and where she was located. We went on our merry way around the market. I came back and the table was still there. As soon as I walked up the lady said, "You came back for YOUR table." Ah, yes, must be mine, it was still there.
This table is made from an old aquarium stand and old wood by her husband. Very unique!

You can see my Dad's old bottle collection is sitting on the table. I have added one more larger bottle find to my 'collection' from a local antique mall (it is not pictured). I added a cake candle on top of a very old plate that I have had for years and one of the doilies, another 50 cent find at the local antique mall. One booth had a box of 'clearance' items! You can read about that adventure here .

If you are up for a ride, or pass through from Alabama to Georgia on I-20, you should check out the Atlanta West Antique Market. They are open 7 days a week! Back before Thanksgiving I made a trip there and found an old window with broken glass, which was fine with me because I wanted to hang it on my wall! Here are 3 more items grouped together, that are all 2nd time around treasures:
Located on the short wall of my living room, between the fireplace and the walk through to my kitchen/dining area are the old window frame, my 'new' makeover table and a churn given to me by my mom. It belonged to my grandmother.

I'm not sure the table has found it's final spot in my house. It is really a great size for any room! It could be used in a bathroom or the kitchen. If I leave it here I would really like one of those tall lamps with a tiny shade to sit on it. I just basically pulled a few items quickly to make photos. It's been a wild crazy first day back at the office along with the fact that I have moved that table from the living room to the kitchen and back to the living room. Just not sure where I want it or if I even like it under the window. Maybe it is because I see the plugs behind it? Or it needs SOMETHING??? Something tall? Something colorful? Something.

I love my old things and my great finds. The table was a good deal at $30.00, as a friend of mine saw just the aquarium stand in a junk store for a little over twenty dollars in poor shape. The window was a huge purchase at 5 bucks. Hope you have enjoyed the mini tour! I bet some of you will be on the hunt now for a stand to make your own cute little table.

Shopping at Scott's Antique Market

I decided since this is a conversational item and it has BLUE on it (also my favorite color, which I am wearing in the photos- HA) that I would participate in Sally's Blue Monday carnival for the first time! Hopefully all my fellow junk hunters and the blue gals will enjoy one of my finds at the market ~

Saturday greeting me and my antique shopping gal, Kelli with a misty rain and cooler temps. It did not dampen my excitement about visiting Scott's Antique Market in Atlanta for the first time! Kelli cooked us up a wonderful breakfast and then we headed out to the market. It was already crowded when we arrived around 11:00 am. I had a list of items I hoped to find.

Forgive the blurry not so great photos shot with my hand-me-down digital camera. My daughter has the 'better' of the camera's and of course, wanted to take hers for Valentine photos with her boyfriend!
I dressed for a long day and to shop! Tennis shoes ~ check! A smaller purse that left my hands free to look and dig ~ check! Pen and paper for notes ~ check! Most important in my book; a cash only budget in my pocket.

I did find three items. The first I purchased were three old keys. The dealer even cut me a 'deal' from his listed price. I spotted a small table in the North building, but just jotted down the info on the back of the dealer's business card. We headed over to the South building by shuttle bus.

I found some items on my list, but none at the deal I had hoped. Kelli stopped to admire some old pottery and I sauntered on down to the next set up. I spotted this neat looking wood piece thinking it would make an awesome headboard. I was pointing it out to her when the dealer started chatting he had another one like it. He pulled it out and set them side by side. I stood and looked....and stood ....and stood there! I really liked the unique nature and was tossing around the possibilities. It was WAY more than I wanted to spend. So I asked the dealer....did he know where it originated. Yes, it was paneling from an old house in Brazil. They had made some furniture out of it and these two pieces were 'extras', put together. The wood is thick and heavy, not like paneling at all! But what do I know about 'paneling' in Brazil? Nadda!

He finally said to make him an offer. Oh geez, I hate when they do that! Finally I settled on an offer, which was just slightly more than HALF of his asking price. He took it! And I carried this honking huge heavy wood around!

See the lighter pieces? I plan to put something in there, as they are not part of the original 'paneling'. Paint them? Tile them? Any suggestions? Would look nice on a wall with photos in them?

Oh and remember we rode the bus over! So I hauled this back over to the North building on the bus.

I did go back to the booth with the table, it was still there ~ so it came home with me. It is a small, unique and interesting find. Hopefully tomorrow I can get my daughter to make photos to share of it with her camera.
I am still deciding where I want to use this wood 'art'. On a wall? As a headboard? Finally I cleaned out a 'clutter' corner in my living room between the couch and my entertainment center. This is where I have placed it. I am thrilled that this one item has so much potential to be moved around the house and used in different forms.

So give me your ideas, suggestions! I'd love to hear them!

Happy Valentine's Day! Heart candy box craft ~

Hope you are enjoying the day! Here is a little project that will use those candy boxes you might recieve today! It took me less than one hour and cost $2.37 for the scrapbook paper and die cut. The rest I had on hand.

I painted the red plastic with Folk Art "Spring Rose" to tone down the red. I traced the heart on scrapbook paper, cut out, inked the edges with Ranger Distress Ink (Vintage photo) and applied with a Double Stick Adhesive Duck tape roller. I also cut a long strip of different scrapbook paper, inked and applied (the lighter pink print). Then I cut some of the old 'lace' I found at the antique mall last weekend, using Aleene's Clear Gel tacky glue to hold it in place, because it dries clear. Added some felt ribbon off gift wrapping I received at Christmas. Painted a Heidi Swapp heart and glue on. Then added the 'Flirty Lil Girl Die Cut' bird.
Because of the paint, I won't be using food in my heart. I think it would be pretty in my bedroom or on any side table as decorations next Valentines.
I am OFF to Scott's Antique Mall this morning for a day of old stuff hunting! Enjoy your Valentine and remember to tell those that mean the most ~ you love them!

Freaky Friday!

I just loved that movie. When it came out, my daughter and I went to see it for a 'girls night out'. I found out at times I can be a 'fun sucker' too and just suck the fun right outta things! Ha! So my daughter tells me.

I took a vacation day today to get some errands done...basically this morning my daughter and I have been running around town looking for a 'deal' on tires for the POS-10 (her hand-me-down truck). She has a 'hot' date tonight with her boyfriend, so time could not be wasted. Miss 'Thang' needed to get back home and get beautified. They are doing the V-day stuff early to beat the rush. I'm thinking others will be doing the same thing!

I did work on a cute little project this morning that I will share tomorrow in honor of Valentines Day. So be sure to SAVE the 'hearts' that your hubby, boyfriend, significant other...whomevah gives you tomorrow. Ya know the plastic one with all the candy in it that we don't need to eat and he is out buying on his lunch break today! You can upcycle them into a cute little craft. I will show you mine.

Yesterday after work I went to have my hair cut. I should tell you that I am the daughter of parents that were/are both hairdressers. I have been a hair 'model' at hair shows, where you just let them have at it and have at it they do! I have really good hair, so I've been told. I say it's my best 'feature' only because I get compliments on it at Walmart, at the gas station, the grocery store, heck almost every where. My friends find it amusing to count just how many people will comment on my hair during a shopping day. I'm just lucky to have good genes. Plus I grew up in the 'beauty shop'! I took a photo in yesterday of a cut/style I wanted to try. You know the type of women that bring in a photo of a movie star and say, "I want to look JUST like THAT!". Knowing that poor hairdresser is thinking, 'honey, me and 3 plastic surgeons ain't gonna get you looking like her.' Well that is exactly what I did! I took in a movie star hair 'do' picture. Luckily I have known my hairdresser for about 10 years. She knows my personality. Calls me a nut! I explained that No, I did NOT want to have to blow my hair dry...because I haven't blown it dry in another many number of years. And I still wanted to achieve that 'star' affect that has people gasping in the grocery check out and asking for my autograph (well not really, just my hairdresser's phone number). In 25 minutes from shampoo bowl to check out .... I had my kinda new style and a fresh cute 'do' and paid her $1 a minute so that she can keep up her identity of "hairstylist to the not so famous". Here is my best 'movie star' diva photo while sitting in the car this morning at the tire shop. Sounds all Hollywood right?

Vintage Valentines

Tonight while searching for some vintage postcards, I came across a collection of vintage Valentine's that I purchased several years ago at an antique place. These are my favorites, so I thought I would share them with you (you can click on the photo to see them closer). Two posts in one day! Out of me that is amazing. So answer my question in a comment.... I'd love to know!

What are YOU doing for Valentines????

I'm not much on all the hoopla. So what am I going to be doing????? I am going to do something I LOVE! I am visiting the Scott's Antique Market in Atlanta for the first time and doing it on Valentines Day. I am so excited!!!! The weatherman is calling for rain in the early morning, but after that, clearing into a beautiful day. I plan to take a camera, but doubt I can con my daughter into borrowing hers as she has plans with her boyfriend and will want to make photos herself. My little digi is a hand-me-down of hers. So I don't know if I can promise good pictures. I will try! Because I LOVE sharing the beautiful items I lust for ...yes I said lust.... and hopefully I can find a few bargain items to bring home as well. I am keeping myself to a budget amount to spend AND I am also going with a wish list.

If you've been to Scott's before or any HUGE antique market ... give me your best pointers! And drop a comment of what your V-day plans include.
